Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course the student will demonstrate the following:

  • Basic understanding of IEC60079-14
  • Understand the need for Competent Installers
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of Installation techniques
  • Understand which activities are allowed and not allowed in these areas.

Course Description

This course covers installations, maintenance and evaluation of explosion-protected and associated equipment and wiring systems.
Based on various parts of the IEC 60079 series.

  • Knowledge of explosion protection requirements
  • Install explosion-protected equipment and wiring systems
  • Maintain equipment in explosive atmospheres
  • Test electrical installations in or associated with explosive atmospheres
  • Perform visual and close inspection of electrical installations in or associated with explosive atmospheres
  • Perform detailed inspection of electrical installations in or associated with explosive atmospheres
